Silk crepe de chine (or CDC) is less commonly used for silk scarves as it is more expensive, however it is perfect for scarf use and results in a modern sophisticated look.
Silk CDC has a more smooth and matte appearance compared to silk twill. Upon close inspection it has a 'pebbled' texture, this is due to the crepe style weave where fibres are twisted in alternating directions. This weave style makes it more difficult for the silk's natural sheen to catch the light and therefore it has very little sheen. Darker colours especially can appear to have no sheen at all.
Our silk CDC is a similar weight to our silk twill although slightly more sheer and it has a softer drape which hangs beautifully. It has great durability and is fantastic for travel due to its superior wrinkle resistance.
